Here is a list of projects that have to be accomplished before the race:
Change the plastic coated lifelines to bare stainless- Change the teak toerails to aluminum (update 2/26/13, just received the four 19-feet pieces of toerail)
- Add an emergency rudder
- Fix the diesel generator
- Fix the water maker
- Address the bedding/berth situation
- Address the fridge/freezer situation
- Make sure the liferaft is approved and serviced (updated 8/13/2013, just received word that under some conditions, my current life raft is approved). I will likely service it around the January time frame.
- Generally speaking, meeting all the race requirements. It is quite a long list but everything seems to make sense in light of the fact that we will spend almost 3 weeks at sea without a West Marine close by…
