Here is a list of projects that have to be accomplished before the race:

  • Change the plastic coated lifelines to bare stainless
  • Change the teak toerails¬†to aluminum (update 2/26/13, just received the four 19-feet pieces of toerail)
  • Add an emergency rudder
  • Fix the diesel generator
  • Fix the water maker
  • Address the bedding/berth situation
  • Address the¬†fridge/freezer situation
  • Make sure the liferaft is approved and serviced (updated 8/13/2013, just received word that under some conditions, my current life raft is approved). I will likely service it around the January time frame.
  • Generally speaking, meeting all the race requirements. It is quite a long list but everything seems to make sense in light of the fact that we will spend almost 3 weeks at sea without a West Marine close by…

Here is a list of training I would like to take:

  • Safety At Sea seminar (July 7th, 2014)
  • Pacific Offshore Academy I (June 26th, 2013)
  • Pacific Offshore Academy II (October 19th, 2013)
  • Pacific Offshore Academy III (January 26th,2014)
  • Pacific Offshore Academy IV (March 16th, 2014)
  • Some medical emergency training
